Stepped red gain
−10 to +20 dB in 5 dB steps. Clean at 0, second harmonic leading as you climb.

Auto Gain
Cancels both the gain and the stage's compression, so the VU holds within about 1 dB while the colour changes.

A VU that moves like one
Real VU law and mass-spring needle, 0 VU = −18 dBFS, with a live THD readout.
