PEQ-2 Program Equalizer plugin interface

Listen

Hear PEQ-2, not a description of it.

The idea

Not a curve fit. PEQ-2 solves the real EQP-1A passive network sample by sample, then adds what the original never had: unit tolerances, Mid/Side, match and delta.

This is the real interface.

Drag the knobs, flip the switches, browse the presets. This is the prototype interface with a simulated signal; details may change before launch.

What's inside

6 reasons, measured.

  1. 01

    The real network

Every capacitor and inductor of the passive EQ is solved by modified nodal analysis. Our response matches the reference circuit to 0.0001 dB.

  2. 02

    The low-end trick, for real

Boost and attenuate the same low frequency and you get the classic shelf-with-a-dip, because the circuit does it, not a lookup table.

  3. 03

    Unit A, B, C

Three sets of part tolerances, from the reference unit to two well-used ones. Stepped or Sweep turns the selectors into continuous controls.

  4. 04

    Drive and Iron

Push the tube makeup stage and saturate the output transformer, separately.

  5. 05

    Stereo, M/S or L/R

Two complete EQs when you need them. The other channel draws as a dashed curve so you always see both.

  6. 06

    Match and Delta

Match gain-compensates from the circuit's own curve so louder never fools you. Delta plays only what the EQ adds.

Questions about PEQ-2

01How is it different from other Pultec plugins?+

It solves the circuit instead of approximating curves, and adds unit tolerances, sweepable selectors, M/S and Match/Delta.

02Is it light enough for every channel?+

About 1 % CPU per instance at 48 kHz.

03Can I buy the plugins yet?+

Not yet. All five are in development and the interfaces and sound you see here are prototypes. We'll announce the launch shortly; the waitlist hears first.

04What does the waitlist get me?+

Launch pricing (20–25 % below the normal price), the free PRE-1 on day one, and a chance to beta test the prototypes.

05How do I become a beta tester?+

Tick "I'd like to beta test" when you join and tell us your DAW. We'll pick testers across hosts and roles.
